After graduating from Westside Dick attended the University of Omaha (now UNO).  He became a member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity.  He served in the United States Armed Forces.  He was a member of our wedding party for my marriage to Jean Swanson (WHS '62) in August 1966.

He served over twenty five years with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol retiring in 2003.  He had been ill for the past couple of years with lung cancer.  He is survived by his wife Annette, six children, sixteen grandchildren, and twelve great grandchildren!

Dick was a very dear friend of Jeannie and I and we are very saddened to hear of his death.

I will always recall Dick as a smart, & real low-key guy; probably just the right disposition for the tough job of a State Trooper (remember that one of his Oklahoma comrades was the alert, cool-headed Trooper who pulled Timothy McVeigh over for having no plates; I can just picture Dick NAILING such a ruffian, and taking his gun). He always had a ready smile. Wish I had gotten to know him better. Fun to be in some classes with him; know his Sister Sandy, his Wife, kids and grandkids will miss him a lot. G&JS, sorry about your loss, too.
